Q: As a new student do I need to RSVP for my first class or fill out any forms?
A: Please be sure to pre-register for classes online to reserve your spot as in person class space is limited. You will also fill out a waiver with your pre-registration. You can register for classes and purchases packages at "Hipnique Studio" on SINDRO.
Q: Do I need to have any previous dance experience to try bellydance classes?
A: Not at all! Come as you are, ready to learn, and you might be surprised how quickly you will connect to the music and movements.
Q: Do I need to have any previous yoga experience to try yoga or aerial yoga classes?
A: Not at all! All of our instructors offer modifications as needed for the yoga and aerial yoga classes. Please do mention to the instructor before class if you are new to yoga so they can best assist you. Any of our Hatha or Gentle Yoga classes are perfect for beginners and beyond. Aerial Yoga Flow classes are designed to be truly Hatha Yoga with the aerial silks and can be modified as well.
Q: If I am a bellydance beginner, which bellydance classes do you recommend I take?
A: All of Hipnique's classes are designed to accommodate mixed levels from beginner to advanced. However, you may find that starting with the "Intro To Bellydance" & "Bellydance Basics and Beyond", as well as the "Cardio Bellydance Drill" classes are a good way to begin. With bellydancing, the amount of time you put into it will determine your rate of progression in the art form. Some prefer one or two classes a week, while others take every class that is offered.... this is your dance journey, and we support your expression of it!
Q:What should I wear to a bellydance class?
A: Comfortable yoga pants or leggings and a tank top, crop top, t-shirt or choli top. Some women also wear skirts. Coin belts and hip scarves are a fun way to accessorize and get you into the bellydance mood. We love to see bellies in our classes but we understand it may take time before you are comfortable showing your belly, and we respect that. Typically we dance with our bare feet (some students prefer dance shoes for extra support).
Q: What should I bring to a bellydance class?
A: Plenty of water to stay hydrated, a special hip scarf or coin belt (coin belts are able to be purchased at the studio, or are free with the purchase of a monthly membership), and a sense of adventure! Sometimes other props are used such as a veil, however, you will be given advance notice so that you can purchase them ahead of time.
Q: If I do not have childcare, may I bring my children with me?
A: Please note that children are not permitted to be brought into class due to liability issues, as well as out of respect for those who are taking classes for their own "me" time. Hipnique strives to offer an environment free of interruption so students can learn, focus and de-stress without distraction.
