Q: As a new student do I need to RSVP for my first class or fill out any forms?
A: Please be sure to come 10-15 minutes prior to your first class to register and sign the waiver!
Q: Do I need to have any previous dance experience to try bellydance classes?
A: Not at all! Come as you are, ready to learn, and you will be surprised how quickly you will connect to the music and movements.
Q: If I am a beginner, which classes do you recommend I take?
A: All of Taliah's classes are specially designed to accommodate mixed levels from beginner to advanced, however, you may find that starting with the "Intro to Bellydance" & "Belly Basics Bootcamp" classes, as well as the "Cardio Belly Beats" classes are a good way to begin. Gradually adding the "Art of Bellydance" classes and "Modern Bellydance" classes is recommended when you reach a comfort level that you would like to begin branching out and trying choreographies. With bellydancing, the amount of time you put into it will determine your rate of progression in the art form. Some prefer one or two classes a week while others take every class that is offered... bellydancing with Taliah is totally customizable to meet YOUR needs and preferences!
Q: What should I wear to class?
A: Comfortable yoga pants or leggings and a tank top, crop top, t-shirt or choli top. Also, coin belts and hip scarves are a fun way to accessorize and get you into the bellydance mood! We love to see bellies in our classes but we understand that it may take time before you are comfortable showing your belly... And of course, we dance with our bare feet (some students prefer dance shoes for extra support). Taliah also sells bellydance tops and items after class if you are interested in adding to your collection.
Q: What should I bring to class?
A: Plenty of water to stay hydrated, a special hip scarf or coin belt to add to the ambiance (available for purchase in class or free with the purchase of a monthly membership) and a sense of adventure! On occasion, we will use veils and other props as a special addition to our bellydancing technique, however, you will be given advanced notice so that you can purchase them ahead of time.
Q: If I do not have childcare, may I bring my children with me?
A: Please note that children are not permitted to be brought into class due to liability issues, as well as out of respect for women who are taking classes for their own personal “me” time. These classes require a professional setting so that Taliah can teach without interruption and students can learn the art of bellydance and excel without distraction.
Q: What is included in a monthly bellydance membership?
A: UNLIMITED bellydance classes!
